Tradition makes the word of God of none effect

 BY Argie Simonis

"Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things do you." Mark 7:13

The worship and adoration of any person or object other than the living God, the Scriptures call it idolatry. Those who do so under the pretext of performing "honorable" and not "worshipful" worship fall into the trap of this spirit of relegion that Paul describes in Romans 1: 22-23:
"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things."
And continues in verse 25: "who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."
Romans 1:25
Neither did the apostle Peter receive an "honorable" bow when Cornelius rushed to fall at his feet (Acts 10:25), nor did the angel who appeared to John receive worship:
"Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God."
Revelation 22:9
