So far so good, but have you ever wondered what the purpose of acquiring this knowledge is? Acquiring knowledge to know what? The truth of course. Verified knowledge aims to bring us to the awareness of the truth.
Let us examine all of this in the light of God's Word. You know, science is a gift given by God in order not to oppose the truth, but to contribute to its awareness. Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life ..." John. 14: 6
In a few words, science must be ordained to contribute to the awareness of the person of God. This is because truth is not a relative concept that has a different meaning for everyone, but truth is a person and has a name: Jesus Christ. It does not change over time and does not fluctuate with every wind that blows: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and in the ages to come." Heb. 13: 8
In the letter to the Hebrews in 11: 1 we read: "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith is real. It is substance and evidence. It is the substance and evidence of things that do not appear, but exist. The definition of faith here comes in perfect harmony with the definition of science I mentioned at the beginning. Some people mistakenly believe that faith believes that something is true even when it is not, and if we believe it hard and for a long time it will become real. This is not faith. It is the definition of "positive thinking". Faith definitely has positive thinking, but it is based on evidence and it has substance.
There are spiritual realities that exist even without our knowledge. They just exist in a sphere that we cannot see or perceive with our five senses. It is foolish to think that something does not really exist because we cannot see it, taste it, hear it, smell it, or feel it. For example, we can not see the TV or radio signals, but they do exist. All we have to do to prove their existence is to take a TV, connect it, turn it on and set it to a frequency. So we will have the physical proof that something in the invisible world really exists.
Likewise, everything Jesus has offered us is already true. They exist, but they are in a spiritual form that we cannot perceive with our five senses. We have to believe that these things exist. Our faith then becomes this receiver who takes what is already true in the spiritual realm and makes it manifest in the physical realm.
The same applies for the existence of God. Despite its tremendous achievements, as many times as science has tried to explain the creation of the universe and the beggining of life it reaches a dead end when it does not include God in the equation. I believe that both the Scriptures and science are two tools given to mankind by God.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2Tim. 3:16
I underline the word "doctrine" (= teaching) here which denotes systematic or organized information or beliefs. The Word of God must be the foundation of all teaching. To be a little more specific: Think of the quality of life that exists in societies and communities where their constitution and laws are based on the fundamental teachings of God's Word, and think of the places in which this is not the case. In which country would you prefer to live with your family?
I leave this question open for meditation and reflection ...
Regarding the word "justice" in 2nd Tim. 3:16, I also want to ask the question of what is legal and what is moral, because not every law is necessarily moral. If the legal and political science does not consult and harmonize with the Word of God, they will continue to fall into the trap of "legal and immoral" with all the consequences that follow. Instead of justice and freedom they will bring bonds and sorrow to the people:
"The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good." Psalm 14:1
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Prov. 1:7
I believe the same applies for any kind of science that is practiced and focused on gathering information, knowledge and wisdom without giving space to the truth. And as I explained above, Truth is the living God, our Lord Jesus Christ:
"Jesus said to him, I AM the way, THE TRUTH, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me." John 14:6
"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you are spirit, and they are life" John 6:63
My wish and prayer is for science to take its right place for which it was created since the beggining, in order to perform its work as a satellite in a universe with its creator, Jesus Christ in the center. I wish the words of the apostle John to always enlighten the conscience of all of us:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" John 1:1-3
Amen!
