The law of harvest

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Luke 6:38 

This verse reveals one of the basic spiritual laws that God has set. You see, the Lord's mathematics does not agree with the world's logic:

"How should one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight?"

Deuteronomy 32:30 

Just as we "give" seeds to the ground to receive fruit back, so it is with everything we give. And of course I'm not just talking about money. This can include feelings such as love, compassion, our prayers, our service or our time:

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

Galatians 6:7‭-‬8 

Thus we will reap exactly what we sow and we will receive according to the same measure that we give:

"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."

2 Corinthians 9:6 

This spiritual law can have positive as well as negative effects, as the Lord tells us in the immediately preceding verse:

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven"

Luke 6:37

But just as the law of gravity is overcome by the laws of flight (thrust and lift), so we can avoid the effects of many negative things we sow, through the law of forgiveness:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9 

Something we must not forget is that God is our source, but He uses people to bless us. I will mention some practical examples:

If you pray about your finances, the Lord will use people to bless you with money. If you pray for employment, the Lord will cause you to find favor in the eyes of your future employer. He can introduce you to people, He will bring in your way partners who will bless your business or your ministry. If you pray for friends, be friendly and you will get friends. Be merciful and you will receive mercy. Pray for those who are sick and you will receive healing in what you pray for. 

Do you understand how spiritual laws work?

As a closure, I want to mention something else equally important. We live in a fast food society, meaning we want everything here and now, but we must not forget the time factor:

"Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain."

James 5:7 

Don't get impatient and try to dig up the seed to see if it springs. 

See how Jesus describes it to us:

"So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; and should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come."

Mark 4:26‭-‬29 

All the Lord's promises are YES and AMEN. Our trust to His promises is a desicion of the heart rather of our mind and when we follow His instructions we will reap in due time.
